Like many enthusiastic fans, we were very excited to see The Witcher back on our screens as Season 2 of the Netflix smash-hit returned on Friday.

The second season was filmed partly in the Lake District and across the North of England. We were absolutely delighted to work with the very talented cast and crew for shooting on the River Tees in the North Pennines.

Safety on Set

Our work on the shoot took place at Low Force Waterfall. We’re very familiar with this area thanks to our Hydrospeeding adventures with our sister company, North East Adventures. It therefore made sense that we could join other crew members to assist with location recce, white water safety and rescue, consultation, and on-site safety advice.

Lee, owner of UNIT 7 Safety, was on set with members of the team. “It was awesome to be involved even in a small part of such a big and exciting project,” he commented. “Through our outdoor activities with Keswick Adventures and North East Adventures, we usually take people out for leisure adventures. But our outdoor skills and knowledge of the area are invaluable on a show like this. We’re receiving more and more requests to support this kind of work.”

About The Witcher

The Witcher follows the titular character, a monster-hunter for hire struggling to find his place in a vicious world. At the time of Season 1’s release, it was the most watched series on Netflix. Superman actor Henry Cavill plays the main character.

Cavill spent a number of weeks filming in the North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. He even took to his Instagram account to gush about the Lakes, which he said had become one of his “top 3 favourite places in the world”. And we know exactly why!

You might spot several Lake District locations in the show. Look out for Cathedral Cave in Langdale and Hodge Close Quarry near Coniston.

Season 2 has been hotly anticipated and all episodes are now available on Netflix.
